75cl | 13% ABV | Goriška Brda, Slovenia | Chardonnay & Rebula
Tasting Notes
Light straw in colour, with a fresh and fruity nose showing hints of green apple, pear, peach and citrus. The palate is crisp and rounded with a silky texture.
The Producer
Gašper is a joint venture between a local co-operative and the Čarman family, who have spent over 50 years in hospitality and wine. Goriška Brda sits between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps, giving dry, warm summers with cooling breezes during ripening.
The Vineyards
Terraced hillside vines, 10 to 30 years old, grow on 'opoka' marl soil at 80–200 metres. The altitude helps the grapes keep their acidity and aromatics. The fruit is picked by co-operative partners, family and friends, which allows careful selection.
In the Winery
Most of the wine was fermented in stainless steel, with 5% fermented in large Slovenian oak casks. It spent six months on its lees and skipped malolactic fermentation to keep its freshness and acidity.
